Swimming With the Fishes: this is a purse which I designed for a crafting segment on Real Life on CTS. Using new and recycled denim, Chinese silk, batik quilting cottons, wool flannel, FIMO and fancy yarns I created an whimsical appliqued purse front. The face of the female figure was formed using a mold purchased from Michael’s and hand painted. The fish was hand painted on denim using Colour Vie pigments. During the segment I led Sharon Caddy through the five steps required to paint the fish. This television segment aired on October 25th, 2007 as a promotion for CreativFestival. Jewels and Jeans with Seamus O’Regan: in the Fall of 2006, these jeans were donated by Mr. O’Regan to the Jewels and Jeans Auction for Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital. Over 3 days I silk screened, free-hand painted and otherwise embellished these jeans with a Newfoundland theme. Prior to the auction, they appeared on Canada AM (on October 18th, 2006) and were exhibited during the CreativFestival Fall show at the Metro Convention Centre. I am presently in contact with CTV to obtain a copy of the program on which they were shown. Process photos COMING SOON!
