The final day of the 2024 Polar Bear Series began under calm skies and a glassy sea, with little wind in the forecast. Crews spent the morning waiting patiently for conditions to improve, and before long a light but steady breeze arrived, allowing the race committee to set courses and get the fleet underway.
Race 1 started with a protest of Radiance in their attempt to port-tack the start line. The following upwind leg was decent. The the down-wind leg, however, left a lot to be desired and TC finished well behind the pace.
Race 2 also started with a protest of boat, this time Jasmina, and a competitive start for the entire fleet. After a close rounding, the finish was neck and neck with Rhumb Line ultimately coming out on top. Thursday’s Child finished in a respectable second place.
